Well as usual I'm about a month behind on blogging so I thought I'd do a quick flashback to get the pictures off of my camera and get everyone updated on all of those wild activities that we partake in (ok we're not quite that exciting but I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder....)
This clip is from the weekend after the 4th of July since I just posted on that. We went boating on Sunday and came home and smelled a bon-fire. We sure thought that it was awfully strange as it was in the 90's but hey, wouldn't be the first strange thing someone has done.
Turns out just as we get the boat in the garage our neighbors (luckily across the street) figured out that the side of their house somehow caught fire and was rapidly spreading due to lack of moisture we've been having. of course everyone immediately calls 911 and you hear the firetrucks coming but until the arrive all you can do is watch in wonder as the house catches on fire.
we ended up watching 6 firetrucks, 2 ambulances and countless cop cars start to tame the flames that ended up being so hot (and also due to the lack of spacing) catching the poor neighbors house on fire...
I know that I shouldn't say that it was pretty cool...but it was pretty cool to watch the firemen arrive, and prep the trucks, get the fire hydrant prepped and hooked up to the truck. the water runs through the truck to another hose and that was strung out to the house.
it was quite the scene and all from our front yard....
they had this monster fan shown below that they placed OUTSIDE of the house and this generator powered fan pushed enough air to strongly work its way though the entire house including the upstairs and basement to push all of the smoke out as a fireman went through and kicked out the screens and opened windows. wow.....
this is a view of the poor neighbors house. I'm pretty sure if that was me I'd have a hose out at least trying to save my house...but he just stood there helpless as his house caught fire too....
the neighbors of course had to move out. the kicker being that they had just moved in two weeks prior and were renting. From what I gathered from the short time they were there I highly doubt that they had renters insurance....
Our little puddle stomper after a rain...
More to come, hang tight!
