I actually helped out two separate days as I signed up to volunteer on my own for a Saturday shift and then talked my boss into doing a team building activity with others in our group that wanted to help during the week.
Saturday shift above (this day I helped with the back corn coming out of the auger)They worked three 4 hour shifts every day starting Saturday and complete 5 days later for the big reveal on Thursday.
This is after we did a few rows to get it up to the top of the auger, then as you'll see we started on the back of it.
The progress of a nice little corn pile going into the "basket"
Detail of all of the Hy-vee labels. I'm guessing they gave us a pretty good deal on purchasing all of the cans since we specifically had to get the Hy-vee pointed out on every can.
This was the start of our team build day. I decided to mix it up and work on the front of the combine. We worked on the very front and worked our way up to the cab of the combine. This was so much fun I think I've got another group for another team day to go and help to take it down.
The combine will be up until December 12 and will be completely gone by December 15th. All 300,000 cans are getting donated to a local food bank that actually specified what kinds of food that they needed.

All 300,000 cans are getting donated to a local food bank that actually specified what kinds of food that they needed. I think we successfully made it into the Guinness book of world records. The previous record holder was Walt Disney who had stacked 150,00 cans of I'm guessing some cartoon character.
Well thanks for stopping by and I'm still going to try to improve on the blog slacking! A week from tomorrow Aaron and I will be in Vegas for a WHOLE WEEK! I'm so excited for a break from work.
Talk to you soon
